*General Rules & Regulations / Animal Owner or Caretakers Verification / Animal Health Regulations / Departments* Health Rules for Horses 1. A Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued after May 1, 2010 is required. 2. All animals must be free of infectious and contagious diseases and a statement of this is required on the CVI (the statement is pre-printed on the CVI). Animals appearing unhealthy upon arrival may not enter the exhibition grounds. 3. An Animal Owner or Caretaker’s Verification of Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR) form must accompany each animal, and must be presented upon arrival at the exhibition. 4. All equine animals must have tested negative for EIA by an official test within the 12 months prior to the opening date of the exhibition. A copy of the official test results must accompany each animal to its final destination. Foals less than 6 months of age accompanied by a dam which meets the above requirements are exempt from EIA testing requirements. If the foal is not accompanied by the dam, a copy of the dam’s test results must accompany the foal to its final destination. 5. A current rabies vaccination administered by a licensed veterinarian is required for animals 3 months of age and older. All vaccine label directions must be followed, and all rabies vaccinated equine animals must be accompanied by a rabies vaccination certificate or the vaccination information must be included on the CVI. If a rabies vaccination certificate is provided, the certificate must contain legible name and contact information of the veterinarian who administered the vaccine and the veterinarian’s signature. A copy of the rabies vaccination certificate is acceptable. PREMIUMS AND ENTRIES HORSES 1. No horse or teams of horses shall be entitled to a premium unless serviceably sound. 2. Animals or combinations of animals owned by one exhibitor may be entered in the classes below. 3. No grade stallions shall be accepted for entry. 4. All animals entered must compete and be shown. 5. Above rules and regulations apply to all horses. 6. In no case is it permissible to show mixed breeds in the same class or division to be judged against each other for premiums. 7. Entries for Light Horses & Ponies should be made with respective superintendent. 8. All horses fed and stalls cleaned by 9 a.m. Exhibitors failing to observe this rule will be asked to remove animals from the barn. 9. No straw will be furnished. Straw must be used, no sawdust. 10. SUPERINTENDENT HAS THE RIGHT TO REJECT ANY ENTRIES OF INFERIOR QUALITY AND THOSE NOT POSSESSING SUFFICIENT MERIT TO WARRANT RECOGNITION. 10. THERE WILL BE AN ENTRY FEE OF $2.00 PER HEAD. 11. All teams to be headed up when being hitched on fairgrounds. 12. NO ONE WILL BE PERMITTED IN THE EXERCISE RING BETWEEN 11P.M. - 6 A.M. 13. Entries accepted starting August 1. 14. Section 6 Light Horse - Shown at Halter Entry forms accepted beginning August 1st Dennis Copeland, Superintendent 11979 US Rt. 6N, Albion, PA 16401 (814) 756-4883 (All horses in this section will be shown in inches) • No adult entries accepted under 54 inches. • Entry money will only be accepted on the first day of the fair. • Superintendent has the right to reject any entries of inferior quality and those not possessing sufficient merit to warrant recognition (Rule no. 10, Dept. 1). • No entries accepted after August 31st mail in entries only (no phone entries). • Stalls will not be available until Tuesday at 9 a.m. • All stallions are to be tied with neck rope as well as one rope on the halter (combination of 2 ropes) for safety reasons • All horses must remain on display until 9 p.m. Saturday unless released by the superintendent and/or veterinarian. • Walk your horse to the holding (practice) ring. • Use the enter gate and the exit gate (west end of ring) during halter classes. • Horses must be under control at all times. • You must exercise your horse in the superintendent designated areas only at the designated times. • Horses are not permitted in front of barns or bleachers at any time. • The Albion Area Fair Association is not responsible for any loss or injury to the handlers, riders, animals, spectators or property. • Stalls and feed areas SHALL be CLEANED by the exhibitor after the fair. • NO “For Sale” signs or other advertisements permitted. • No one under the age of 18 shall be handling any stallions on fair property. If you make 3 passes on your first pull, you must come back for a 2nd pull. 5. Distance to pull 27.5 feet. 6. Jumping off the boat is counted as a pull. 7.
