RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR CATTLE:

 

1. Exhibitors will be expected to display or parade their animals as directed by the Superintendent; to accept the stall assigned without controversy; to keep their animals in an attractive appearance, and to cooperate with the Department in every way that may serve to increase the educational value of the show.

2. Exhibitors of livestock must inform themselves as to when their stock will be judged. Stock must be in the ring promptly on call and a failure to comply with the order renders exhibitors liable to be ruled out of competing. Decorations with ribbons or ornaments previously won by animals at shows, shall be prohibited until after the awards have been made in their respective classes by the Judges.

3. Exhibitors must have all animals listed for competition on the grounds no later than 8 p.m. Tuesday. All such animals shall remain on display until 9 p.m. Saturday unless released by the superintendent and/or a veterinarian.

4. The exhibitors will be expected to keep the space they occupy in a clean and sanitary condition and to remove all their equipment promptly as the Superintendent may direct.

5. An exhibitor may enter a maximum of two animals in each lot.

6. All entries must be accompanied by a registration paper.

7. Each exhibitor limited to a maximum of ten entries.

8. No straw will be furnished. Straw must be used, no sawdust.

9. AN ENTRY FEE OF $2 PER HEAD MUST

ACCOMPANY ENTRY BLANK.

10. Only animals qualified for the State Jr. Dairy Show in Harrisburg will be released early.

HEALTH RULES FOR CATTLE

 

Pennsylvania Cattle:

1.A Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued after May 1, 2011 is required.

2. All animals must be free of infectious and contagious diseases and a statement of this is required on the CVI (the

statement is pre-printed on the CVI). Animals appearing unhealthy upon arrival may not enter the exhibition grounds.

3. An Animal Owner or Caretaker’s Verification of Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR) form must accopmany each animal, and must be presented upon arrival at the exhibition.

4. Individual official animal identification is required. Official ID includes:

• A state-issued metal ear tag;             • An ISO-compliant RFID tag            • A state-registered tattoo.

5. A current rabies vaccination administred by a licensed veterinarian is required for animals 3 months of age and older. All vaccine label directions must be followed, and all rabies vaccinated cattle must be accompanied by a rabies vaccination certificate or the vaccination information must be included on the CVI. If a rabies vaccination certificate is provided, the certificate must contain legible name and contact information of the veterinarian who administred the vaccine and the veterinarian’s signature. A copy of the rabies vaccination certificate is acceptable.

Out of State Cattle:

statement is pre-printed on the CVI). Animals appearing unhealthy upon arrival may not enter the exhibition grounds.

3. An Animal Owner or Caretaker’s Verification of Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR) form must accopmany each animal, and must be presented upon arrival at the exhibition.
