• No straw will be furnished. Straw MUST be used, no sawdust.

1. The superintendent and/or his assistants have the right to reject any animal on the grounds of inferior quality or lack of preparation on the part of the owner (i.e. crotched, clipped, trimmed, washed, combed.)

2. Pen of lambs consists of 2 ram lambs and 2 ewe lambs.

3. Flock consists of 1 ram, any age; 2 ewes, one year and under two years, 2 ewes under one year.

4. Breeder’s young flock consists of ram lamb and 2 ewe lambs, all bred and owned by exhibitor.

5. A get-of-sire shall consist of four breeding animals, any age or sex, the get of one sire. Get need not be owned by the exhibitor.

6. A current year Certificate of Veterinary Inspection dated March 1 or later is required.

 

HEALTH RULES FOR SHEEP

1.A Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued after May 1, 2011 is required.

2. All animals must be free of infectious and contagious diseases and a statement of this is required on the CVI (the

statement is pre-printed on the CVI). Animals appearing unhealthy upon arrival may not enter the exhibition grounds.

3. An Animal Owner or Caretaker’s Verification of Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR) form must accopmany each animal, and must be presented upon arrival at the exhibition.

4. Individual official USDA scrapie animal identification is required. Official scrapie IDincludes:

• A scrapie eartag. Contact the USDA to obtain scrapie eartags at 866-873-2824, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Your order may take several weeks for processing, so order tags early; or

• A scrapie tattoo with individual animal ID (tattoo); or

• An ISO-compliant RFIDtag.

5. A current rabies vaccination administred by a licensed veterinarian is required for animals 3 months of age and older. All vaccine label directions must be followed, and all rabies vaccinated sheep must be accompanied by a rabies vaccination certificate or the vaccination information must be included on the CVI. If a rabies vaccination certificate is provided, the certificate must contain legible name and contact information of the veterinarian who administred the vaccine and the veterinarian’s signature. A copy of the rabies vaccination certificate is acceptable.

Section 3

Wool

Wool exhibited must be produced by the exhibitor. No premiums will be awarded in any class unless the exhibits are worthy. The judges may withhold any premium for lack of merit. No more than two (2) fleeces in any one (1) class per individual exhibitor, family or farm. All fleeces exhibited must be tied with paper twine.
