GOATS

• All exhibitors must contact superintendent by August 31 with intent to show.

• Entry monies will only be accepted on the first day of the fair.

• Superintendent has the right to reject any entries of inferior quality and those not possessing sufficient merit to warrant recognition.

• Pens and feed areas SHALL be CLEANED by exhibitor after the fair.

• Only does and castrated bucks (wethers) may enter.

• Entry fee is $1 per animal.

• No entries with horns permitted.

• Pre-show milkout is Tuesday evening at 8 p.m.

• Proof of current 4-H/FFA membership is required for all Dept. 10 exhibitors.

• Specify number of pens needed on entry form.

• Straw MUST be used, but will not be provided.

• A current year Certificate of Veterinary Inspection dated March 1 or later is required.

Registered Dairy Goats

HEALTH RULES FOR GOATS

 

1.A Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued after May 1, 2010 is required.

2. All animals must be free of infectious and contagious diseases and a statement of this is required on the CVI (the statement is pre-printed on the CVI). Animals appearing unhealthy upon arrival may not enter the exhibition grounds.

3. An Animal Owner or Caretaker’s Verification of Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR) form must accopmany each animal, and must be presented upon arrival at the exhibition.

4. Individual official animal identification is required. Official ID includes:

• A scrapie eartag. Contact the USDA to obtain scrapie eartags at 866-873-2824, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Your order may take several weeks for processing, so order tags early; or

• An ISO-compliant RFIDtag; or

• A scarpie tattoo. Goats with an official scarpie tattoo must also have a unique individual animal ID (tattoo) to meet the scarpie ID requirement; or

• Goats having a breed registration tattoo and accompanied by a registration certificate are exempt from the scrapie ID requirement if the tattoo is legible and a registration certificate (copy acceptable) or a Certficiate of Veterinary Inspection which lists the tattoo and registry accompanies the animal at all times during transport from the premises of birth.

Harness Goats must have been shown in their respective age classes. Goats must be hitched to a cart or suitable vehicle for classes 5 and 6.
