RABBIT SHOW RULES

   To promote the continued improvement of the species, we encourage displays of quality rabbits consisting of breeds recognized by the American Rabbit Breeders Association. All rabbits must be in good health and have been owned by the exhibitor for at least 30 days.

   Entry fee is $1.00 per rabbit. Make all checks payable to Albion Area Fair Association. Send entries to Mavis Ropp, 5885 Sherrod Hill Rd., Edinboro, PA 16412.

   We do have a “Pet” class to accommodate youth exhibitors (16 and under) who do not have pedigreed animals. This class is limited to 2 rabbits per exhibitor and the rabbits do not have to be tattooed. The “Best Pet” will be awarded a prize.

ALL ENTRIES MUST BE POSTMARKED NO LATER THAN SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 2010.

1. All rabbits must have permanent and legible earmark.

2. Rabbits will be accepted on Tuesday, the opening day of the fair, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

3. All rabbits will be judged according to the latest Standards of Perfection of the American Rabbit Breeders Association.

4. Ribbons will be awarded to 5th place. Specials will be posted in the showroom.

5. Best of Breed and Best Opposite Sex money will be awarded with ten or more entries in a breed or variety. No money awarded for Best of Group.

6. Rabbits will be released 9 p.m. on Saturday, the last day of the fair. (NONE WILL BE RELEASED EARLIER) and must be removed by 11 p.m. Saturday, the last day of the fair.

7. Rabbits showing signs of disease will not be accepted.

8. Judging will take place on the Wednesday of the fair at 9 a.m. by a licensed A.R.B.A. judge.

*9. Entires MUST INCLUDE BREED, EAR NO., COLOR, SEX AND CLASS (Jr., 6-8, Sr.) ON ENTRY BLANK (SAMPLE FOLLOWS).

*ENTRY FEES

$1.00 Per Animal (rabbit or single fryer)

$1.00 Fur Class (must also be entered in regular class.Please read rule 10.)

$1.00 Meat Pen (pen shall consist of three (3) rabbits, all the same breed and variety).

Age limit, not over 70 days and weigh not over 5 pounds for each rabbit.

NOTE: Same age and weight applied to the fryer class.

10. Premiums paid on the following fur classes only. (No payback for breed fur classes)

• Normal (White and Colored) • Satins (White and Colored) • Rex (White and Colored) • Angora Wool (White and Colored)

HEALTH RULES FOR RABBITS

 

Pennsylvania Rabbits:

1.An Animal Owner or Caretaker’s Verification of Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR) form must accompany all PA rabbits, and must be presented upon arrival at the exhibition.

2. All animals must be free of infectious and contagious diseases. Animals appearing unhealthy upon arrival may not enter the exhibition grounds.

Out of State Rabbits:

1.A Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued within the 30 days prior to the opening date of the exhibition is required.

2. All animals must be free of infectious and contagious diseases and a statement of this is required on the CVI(this statement is pre-printed on the CVI). Animals appearing unhealthy upon arrival may not enter the exhibition grounds.

3. An Animal Owner or Caretaker’s Verification of Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR) form must accompany each animla, and must be presented upon arrival at the exhibition.
