ANTIQUES - ART - CRAFTS

Jeanne Miller, Superintendent, 299 Riley Dr., Girard, PA 16417 • (814) 774-5703

RULES:

The Rules Committee invites middle school and senior high school students, as well as adult amateur artists, to display their work in the building adjacent to the Education Building. Thousands of people will see your work.

HOBBYIST: You may enter as an exhibitor in this division if you engage in a hobby or craft for pleasure. If you occasionally have the opportunity to sell your item for little or no profit you may still enter this division.

Occasional selling is defined as seasonal selling or holiday selling - not a year ‘round activity. This item must be made during your spare time at home - exceptions being; making ceramics at ceramic class.

You may not: • display in a boutique or business establishment • be affiliated with a place of business •participate in the area of your entry unless your job description does not connect you with your craft or hobby - such as cashier in an arts and crafts store • hold a business card • hold a vendor’s license • make your item at a place of business or at work • sell at a craft show • give instructions in specified field.

RULES:

1. Entries will be received from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday. An exhibitor’s number must be obtained at the Business office BEFORE coming to register.

2. Entries will be judged on Tuesday evening and judging will be closed to the public. Judging will be from 9 p.m. until midnight or UNTIL all judging is completed and the exhibits are in place.

3. Judges may withhold awards in any class and their decision shall be final. No one will be admitted to the building while judging is in progress.

4. NO late entries will be accepted.

5. No piece can compete in more than one class, that is, an article can be judged only once.

6. Original artwork (no copies) not previously shown at the Albion Area Fair will be eligible for ribbons.“Original” means not copied.

7. No nude, sexually suggestive or violent art, photographs or crafts will be accepted.

8. NO“For Sale” tags are permitted on any entry.

9. It is the responsibility of the individual exhibitors to read the specific details in each section to see that their pieces qualify and fulfill the requirements of that class.

10. Violation of any department rules constitutes a disqualification.

11. Due to limited space, entries may not be displayed to their fullest advantage. This will not affect the judging in any way.

12. This department is intended to show our local amateur talent. PROFESSIONAL WORK WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Individuals are designated “professional” if the exhibited talent is their major source of income.

13. All entries must be made since the close of the last fair and by the exhibitor only.

14. Art and photo entries MUST BE FRAMED AND BE PREPARED TO HANG USING SECURE PICTURE WIRE AND EYE HOOKS. Absolutely NO exhibits using tape, string, saw teeth, staples, etc., will be accepted for exhibit.

15. If sets are entered, no more than two (2) articles per set. Craft entries with multiple pieces will be judged as a set.

16. Items cannot be entered in other classes if there is a specific class already offered, i.e., if you enter a doll in “Doll, porcelain” you may not enter another porcelain doll in crafts.

17. Names on paintings must be covered for judging. Ceramic and porcelain articles should have identification marks to indicate that they are originals (must be dated).

18. Ribbon prizes will be awarded. There are no premiums.

19. Grossly oversize/overweight items will not be accepted for display. Refer to Art/Photo regarding size.

20. We encourage typed or printed paragraphs of explanation submitted with any unusual entries for benefit of viewers.

21. Care will be taken with all items, but we are not responsible for damage to articles while on Fair Grounds.

22. To enter the Senior Citizen division of any department, the exhibitor must be at least 65 years of age.

23. Only clean items will be judged on neatness, method use, originality and technique. In those classes in which no competition exists, or if, in the opinion of the judges, articles are not worthy of a first award, the judge may award a second, third, honorable mention or no award. Where two items are both of equal merit, judges may award duplicate awards.

ALL ENTRIES MUST REMAIN AT THE FAIR UNTIL 9 P.M. SATURDAY.

Entries must be picked up after this time. Not responsible for entries left after 10 p.m. Saturday
