A story by Paula Fetterolf, Albion Area Fair
Special Events Chairman
Have I got
a story to tell you about how Josh Turner came to be at the Albion
Area Fair! I was in Nashville at the Grand Ole Opry on December
21, 2001, the night Josh Turner made his debut. As Josh began
to sing, the crowd was drawn to his deep baritone voice. Josh
received two standing ovations for his song Long Black Train
that night.
I had just
finished my first year as entertainment chairman for the fair
and I knew I wanted Josh at our fair. I exchanged numbers with
a Nashville agent and she tried to track down information on Josh
and once at home I tried the internet but nothing was ever found.
When Long
Black Train hit the radio stations in 2003, it was like
déjà vu Where had I heard that song before?
I immediately went to the internet and as I read his bio I knew
I had found the person I was searching for two years earlier.
I dialed MCA Records in Nashville directly and after talking with
Josh Turners agent I had sealed the deal.
