Matty
B & The Dirty Pickles
Wednesday 8:00 - 10:00 p.m.
Grandstand

Matty B. and the Dirty
Pickles emerged in mid-July of 2004. The local music scene starved for
some new, hip music and Matty B. delivered with a rockabilly revival.
Who knew the "new" sound would be 50 years old? Initially
the vision grasped towards the grave-robbing, horror screams of
psychobilly, but surfaced to the sweet sounds of Chuck Berry and Buddy
Holly. But there is nothing new about an old jukebox pumping out the
retro sounds of Eddie Cochran so Matty B. injected some flavor and a
little bit of poppycock into the mix. The Dirty Pickles sell the
carefree rock 'n roll spirit fueled by solid electric bass and upright
slap bass as well as the pulsating beats of Marky G.
If the sounds of
rebellion, nostalgia, and youth make your heart beat faster then I
suggest you go check out the Dirty Pickles for a high-energy assault
of 50's music. From surf to psychobilly, the fun never ends. So get
up, move your feet, shake your hips, and let Matty B. get you moving
to the beat with his charm, melody, and his sweet pompadour.
"
The vibe may be '50s, but the energy is so palpable the trio makes
you think they invented rockabilly. They make it feel fresh,
exciting, and alive all over again. "
