Pysanky Egg Demonstration
Saturday 5:00 - 6:30 p.m.
Arts & Crafts Building
Pysanky - the
language of the ancient ones. The Ukranian people have decorated
eggs for centuries. As pagan worshipers, they covered the eggs
with symbols of spring and harvest. Christianity was introduced
around 1100 A.D. Now the Ukranians use symbols to represent God
and his creation. The symbols and colors tell a story.
Tami Hritzay is
proud to share her heritage with others. She was taught the art of
egg decoration from Ukranian women and is now able to teach and
share with others the art of the pysanky.
